Bob Returns!

Bob emerged from the Archive this morning. He looked slightly the worse for wear

being covered in dust and cobwebs.
He had to prepare and pack for his forthcoming (and somewhat obscure) business

seminar. He tells me it is specifically designed for entrepreneurial bears like him

who are trying to make an impact on big business. His ambitions are boundless but he

feels promoting my art around the world will add to his CVU(corriculum vitae ursus).

The course is the only one he could find and it it is in Acapulco for 2 weeks,

(neither of which surprise me at all). He felt is would be essential for him to

attend and travel first class. This befits his status as a professional bear.

When I challenged him about the cost he reminded me that he went to Blackpool last

year in a carrier bag which he blames for the abject lack of sales since then.Anyway
Bob says it will be well worth the expense, especially as he isn't paying for it!

While away he has given me a list of works that I should be publishing in his

absence. The first 2 of which are both oils on canvas and are called

barnandaluciaBarn, Andalucia

and;

beachsceneportugalBeach Scene, Portugal

More to follow in the next few days.

He’s Back Tomorrow!

Whilst passing the door to the archive I found a scribbled note from CB. I could tell from the bear like handwriting and it was in pencil. He uses a jumbo triangular one that is easier to grip in his paws.  He never uses a pen of any description to avoid getting ink on his fur. That would be a disaster as it would require a trip to the bath, or worse still,  the washing machine. No self respecting bear is going to agree to an 800rpm spin followed by being pegged on the washing line by his ears.

When I had moved all the empty honey jars and ice cream cartons I could see these 2 works he wants to be published.

anger“Anger” – an Oil on Canvas 2009. He says this is the last abstract for a few days as he thinks my portfolio is becoming slightly out of balance.

For that reason, he has included “Au Pied des Alpilles”, an oil on canvas from 2012 which he thinks will balance things out a bit. It was based on a postcard  from Provence when Bob was kind enough to let us  holiday with  him in Southern France. He likes bright colours so there will be more like this in the coming months.

Anyway he expects to be back with us tomorrow as he will have finished  off his audit by then.  I shall also receive my instructions as to what I should be painting over the coming weeks. He certainly never lets the grass grow under his paws.

Still No Sign of Bob

I am becoming a little concerned about Curly Bob as he hasn’t been seen since he went into the archive last week. He is not a bear who minds getting his paws dirty.

Apart from cryptic requests such as “More honey!” we have heard no more from him. From time to time I find a couple of paintings outside the archive entrance with a note saying “publish these straight away”.

We need a strategy meeting to discuss what plans he has for the works in the archive plus the paintings and drawings I produce this year. Hopefully this will take place before he goes on his business seminar next week.

Meanwhile, here are 2 more abstracts from the vault.

Abstract #4abstract4

abstract5Abstract #5

Both are oils on canvas and were painted between 2009 and 2010.

I plan to discuss the way we name paintings for future works to make them more interesting. It is a little known fact that bears cannot count past 10 unless we are talking about pots of honey, ice cream and of course his commission.

Curly Bob is Still in the Archives

Bob  went into the archives on Friday night and hasn’t been seen since. He emails my instructions on his suitably adapted smartphone. He has found several works in the abstract section and thinks these should also be published.

abstract1I have forgotten the names of my earliest works so CB decided to name them Abstract #1 (above) and

abstract2Abstract #2.

I don’t know how he thinks up these names. Both are oils on canvas and were painted between 2006 and 2009. CB has asked me to keep detailed records of all new works so there won’t be a problem in the future.

He is a meticulous bear by nature so I expect he will have me publish most of my archive over the next few months. Bob is due to attend a week long seminar for entrepreneurial bears like himself who wish to succeed in business. I expect he will come back invigorated and full of new marketing ideas after the Easter break.

His next missive will be published sometime over the coming weekend.

Bob Likes Drawings

Curly Bob was pawing his way  through my back catalogue over the week end. He has reminded me that I should also include some of my drawings for sharing with the Blogosphere. So here are 2 which he tells me I did several years ago.

I have started to draw again so the new ones will be published as soon as the archive is used up.

Curly Bob is Worried!

Bob checks his stats everyday since he allowed me to set up my blog and website which he hosts on my behalf. He is troubled that he has not been buried by a tidal wave of feedback, comments and presents from well wishers.

I have explained that he has several people who have been kind enough to list him in their circles and follow him on Twitter. However he is a very impatient bear and has told me to post a couple of paintings on his Blog at least twice per week to get things going. As a bear, Bob is a newcomer to the art world which can be quite conservative but he isn’t the sort of bear to let that stand in his way.

I used to paint in a far more subtle  or muted palette. However Bob (who knows about these things) advised me to branch out into brighter colours following his trip to Provence, France a couple of years ago.

They have been well received locally but he wanted to find out what people further afield thought.

I plan to meet Bob’s schedule . If there are any lapses it will no doubt be due to my toiling over a canvas or three under his watchful gaze.

Best wishes from Curly Bob & myself.

Here we go!

This is the first official step into the netherworld of the Blogosphere, hopefully having got to grips with the relevant programs.

I cannot see that anyone would have the faintest interest in my life to date so the reader will be spared that ordeal and in any case there isn’t that much to say.

I finished work some years ago. I had taken up painting around 2002/3 and was a member of 3 local clubs on and off. I exhibited several times through the clubs with some reasonable success. For various reasons I have decided that I want to give most of my work for sale through some local charity shops which we want to support.

Therefore the work I have on the web is not for sale directly. The sites I am using are merely galleries to show the sort of stuff I do or did.

I am now painting works, mainly based upon, but not exclusively around North wales/Cumbria and Provence both of which we visit for our holidays.

I plan to post works at regular intervals but am also considering posting some of my better sketches as they arise and from past trips.

Please feel free to let me have any thought, preferably constructive via

vanbear7@gmail.com

I have placed the running of this blog in the not so safe paws of my business associate, Curly Bob who is possibly the worlds first philanthropic bear.

By the way when I ventured onto the web some 15 years ago or more I was known as Vanbear. In my absence I see that there is now a plethora of users with that name so you will find most of my work under the name A.Vanbear or Vanbear7. Simple really..
